Thin Crust Low Carb Hamburger Pizza

Ok, so this is not a traditional southern recipe, but it's really good! I made this pizza while my husband and I were on a low carb diet and craving pizza. It is a multi step process, but well worth the time.

Thin Crust Low Carb Hamburger Pizza

The Crust

  • 8 oz Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 4 oz Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 t Garlic
  • 1 t Basil

In a medium mixing bowl, beat eggs. Add cheeses, garlic and basil to eggs and combine well.

Scoop the cheese mixture out on to a parchment lined 16" pizza pan. With the back of a fork flatten the cheese mixture out in to a circle, leaving some of the parchment paper exposed around the edges.

Bake the cheese mixture in a preheated 400* oven for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese melts and becomes golden brown.

Take the crust out of the oven and flip it over, exposing the bottom of the crust. You want to brown the other side as well. This usually takes about 10-15 minutes.

Once the crust has browned on both sides, remove it from the pan and parchment paper. Place the crust on a few paper towels to absorb any excess oil that may be on the crust. Pat the top of the crust with paper towels as well. Then place the crust back on the pizza pan without the parchment paper.

Pizza Sauce

  • 15 oz Can Tomato Sauce
  • 6 oz Can Tomato Paste
  • 1 T Dried Oregano
  • 2 Cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 t Paprika
In a medium sauce pan combine all ingredients and heat thoroughly.

Toppings

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1/2 Onion, chopped
  • 6 oz Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 T Dried Parsley
In large skillet brown ground beef and onions. Then drain grease and return to skillet to keep warm. You will want your toppings kept warm while putting your pizza together because once the pizza goes back in the oven to melt the cheese, it will be on broil and only in the oven for 5-7 minutes.

Now, it's time to put this pizza together.

I use about half of the pizza sauce for one pizza. The extra sauce will keep well in the refrigerator for 1 week. Spread the pizza sauce almost to the edge of the crust. Then, evenly spread the meat and onions, the cheese, and the parsley over the sauce.

Place pizza under broiler on the middle rack of the oven. Broil for about 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Remove from oven, slice and ENJOY!
